~ PERSEVERE ~
That’s my word for 2016.
God’s prompting through this specific word will undoubtedly be challenging, prayer-inducing and thought-provoking. He continues to provide the whys and how I’m to persevere-in-everything, too.
Persevere, a verb-an action dependent on faith and God’s provision because with this definition, “continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success” how could it be anything else? When I initially sought a working definition, I came across these words: patient endurance, steadfast, determination, and persist. These serve as great motivators and could be written as affirmations, too.
Perseverance is a noun defined as “steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.”
Writing this post has provided me with a specific opportunity to exercise perseverance. Admittedly, I’ve walked away three times and tried to distract myself repeatedly but I’m NOT giving up! I will persevere and in doing so I will fulfill my purpose in this word today! Thank you, Lord!
Yes, this is my prayer from Hebrews 12:1.
Dear Father God,
Thank you for reminding me that I am surrounded by a great cloud of faithful witnesses; please continue to enable me to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles me. Lord let me run with perseverance the race that You have marked out for me. Thank you in the precious name of Jesus. Amen and amen.
